Humble Beginnings

Founded in spring 2012 by a Senior Seminar class in the Environmental/Sustainability Studies program. After presenting the idea to Student Senate the initiative was put on the student election ballot.

Call to Action

After winning over the study body and the UNC board of trustees an additional fee was added to tuition bills. The fee is $1 per credit hour, up to 10 credits. This money supports Student LEAF in achieving goals of propelling the campus into a more environmentally aware future.

Our Goal

Our goal is to empower students in moving their campus community towards a more sustainable culture. Through a collaboration of students, faculty, and staff, we aim to achieve a reduced environmental impact by funding projects on campus.

Projects are submitted by members of the UNC community and include building/grounds improvements and education initiatives that promote resource efficiency and environmentally conscious lifestyles.

These efforts are realized through enduring relationships based on trust, respect, and responsibility.
