Why did you get involved in Student LEAF?
“I joined Student LEAF was to get involved in something at UNC that I really had a passion for- environmentalism and living sustainably. Starting Student LEAF last year we came up with the goals we wanted to see enacted on our campus that will not only benefit the students and university in a sustainable way but show our responsibility to the earth in as many ways possible. Personally, i wanted a way to educate and show people not only how they can live sustainably in an easy way but why they should. Education is one of the largest barriers in communicating why we should live earth friendly and through LEAF we can overcome that.”
What is you dream proposal for UNC?
“To have most of the campus run off clean energy, especially solar and wind power. It is completely possible but very expensive. If we could have solar panels be a physical representation of our clean energy (whether it be on rooftops or parking lots), it would not only show how we are providing responsibility to our planet, but serve as an educational tool in the environmental studies program. “
